Employment Opportunities

CERF is primarily a seasonal employer, with a crew of up to 20 people during the summer months, and only its skeleton staff and graduate students during the rest of the year. Any employment or volunteer opportunities that do come available at CERF are posted here. Most of our hiring is done in May every year, though we will accept applications at any time.

Graduate Studentships

Funding is available for the research costs associated with the following projects. No salary money is available from CERF at this time - graduate students are encouraged to apply for Teaching or Research Assistantships at their supervisor's university. The list below is not meant to be exhaustive, if applicants have supervision and a project that can be undertaken within our study area, and that can make use of CERF facilities, they are encouraged to contact us with details. Please see our ongoing research page for information on the kinds of projects we're interested in, and our crew page for present students' research interests and affiliations.

If you are interested in any of the above positions, please email us for further information.

Directed Study

It may be possible to work our eco-tourism programme into a final year or honours thesis at the undergraduate level, or directed study at the graduate level. Given the long term nature of marine mammal research, projects at this level are most often confined to literature reviews and library work. We can provide students with a field component to their project. Contact us for more information.

Other employment opportunities

The following positions may be available for next summer. The projects are still in the planning stage - we should have final details in place by late March. Paid positions at CERF are available only to Canadian citizens and Permanent Residents, or under NAFTA, to US & Mexican citizens who hold at least a Bachelor's degree in Biology or closely related field.

None at this time.

Any additional positions that come available will be posted here, so check back from time to time. Crew for the 2008 season will most likely be selected from among the participants in our 2006 eco-tourism programme.
